Sapa is the world’s largest aluminium extrusion company, with operations in more than 40 countries. The company produces aluminium extrusions, also known as aluminium profiles, for virtually every industry, including a wide range of solutions for the automotive industry, architectural products, furnishings, and consumer goods.

If you’re a designer and wondering how to create an environmentally friendly product using versatile and sustainable extruded aluminium, you are invited to attend the Sapa Profile Academy.  Since its launch in Sweden in 1994, the Profile Academy has been helping companies gain a competitive and creative edge by increasing their knowledge about aluminium. Today, the keynote seminars are inspiring designers, technicians, engineers, product developers, architects and even CEOs from companies across Europe and North America.

‘We want to broaden the knowledge base in regards to the use of extruded aluminium profiles,’ says Peter Hedman, director of Sapa’s North American Technical Center and North American representative for the Profile Academy. ‘We want customers to understand how smart and practical it can be to use aluminium. Sapa has a long heritage of partnering with customers to develop innovative aluminium solutions, so it’s very important for us to continue this by encouraging new ideas and creative thinking.’

The Profile Academy provides attendees with a foundational understanding of aluminium, the extrusion process, fabrication, finishing and joining methods, profile design and numerous relevant processes.  Subject matter experts from Sapa and external speakers from industry bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the events, which range in duration from one to four days and typically include factory tours.  ‘The information can help engineers view their designs from a different perspective and implement clever and cost-effective solutions, not to mention the significant relationship that develops between the customer and Sapa as a result,’ explains Myles Grennan, Sapa’s UK marketing manager.

The format and content of the Profile Academy is adapted according to geographical needs and it is steadily expanding into new countries.
