London by Design: Corinthia Hotel
Eight years after its multimillion pound refurbishment, the David Collins-designed interior of this 294-room landmark still impresses (scenes from the recent Jennifer Lawrence Cold War thriller Red Sparrow were shot here), but it is the Corinthia’s subterranean Espa spa that delivers the real wow factor to Whitehall. Covering 3,300 sq m and clad in dark wood, black tiles and Italian marble, the spa offers a steel-lined pool, sleep pods and a thermal suite, while a cubed, glass-sided sauna provides 360-degree views of the steam room, power showers and ice fountain.
