Meet Justin, the humanoid robot
In this video, Justin speaks of his remarkable human-like features
Meet Justin, a sinewy and unmistakably humanoid robot, with a tin-armed torso on a rolling chassis. Painted in a lustrous blue sheen, his forms are almost cartoonish in their imitation of exaggerated muscles.
Justin is the offspring of Germany's Aerospace Centre and its Institute of Robotics and Mechatronics. The German-speaking robot was designed as a two-armed 'co-worker', who automatically adjusts his activity to suit the distance from his human colleague. In the video, Justin speaks of his remarkable human-like features such as his fingers, which are embedded with sensors that allow him to distinguish an object purely by the sense of touch. The aim is for assistance robots such as Justin to aid humans in industrial manufacturing, and, later on, in hospitals.
