Gieves & Hawkes S/S 2015
It's just over a year since designer Jason Basmajian took the reins at Gieves & Hawkes, his first step onto Savile Row after heading up Milanese giant Brioni, and his confidence is showing. Like winter's sumptuous line-up, the S/S 2015 showing in Westminster's White Cube gallery was a slick tonal study - with Basmajian constructing a wraparound vista of static looks spanning chalky whites through a gradient of sky blues, deepening to teal and mocha-coloured outerwear. Sartorial tricks abounded; here summer tweeds, linen shawl-collar tuxedos and gabardine trenches all appeared light yet structured, while silk jacquard evening jackets held a romantic appeal in shades of dusty blue checks and an ivory polka dot. Our favourite accessory? A set of lapel pins featuring a rope knot, seashell and urchin - each cast in brushed sterling silver.
