The Chedi brand is known for its stylish resorts and hotels in locations such as Ubud in Bali, Phuket and Chiang Mai in Thailand and Muscat in Oman. This is what they call a ‘metropolitan resort’ and is the company’s first venture into a city business hotel. Set in a residential area near Viale Certosa, The Chedi is well positioned for the new Fiera and the new Triennale Bovisa.
Taking inspiration from his Indonesian roots, interior designer Jaya Ibrahim envisioned a tranquil hideaway of calming tones and earthy materials in this Italian metropolis. Sand, ochre and orange shades mingle with wood, bronze, stone, ceramic and mosaic textures, weaving a sublimely terrestrial ambiance from the central lobby through to each sumptuous, state-of-the-art room.
An extension of Ibrahims’ harmonious elemental scheme, the Chedi restaurant offers both local specialities and exotic Asian creations. A cubic chandelier composed of shell-like slender bands is a nod to the mod Milanese design scene, while smaller glowing orange lamps illuminate the dark tables and wooden place settings like lanterns in a cozy Javanese village.
