Despite threats to close the legendary Camden market, the traditionally bohemian territory is thriving, spurred on by a rapidly expanding foodie scene and a host of press photos picturing gangly rock stars falling out of its fashionable bars.
Hi Sushi Salsa couldn’t be better placed given its concept, a seemingly eclectic combination of Japanese culture and Latino spirit, set to the soundtrack of resident DJs and guest bands. The décor is pure oriental oasis, wisely steering clear of monochrome austerity in favour of a dark and sparkly space peppered with bright tatami seating.
Purists will be satisfied by the sushi, sashimi and bento emerging from the authentic sunken sushi bar whilst the grill serves up skewers and sea bass for the after-dark cocktail crowd. Failing all else when the party gets going, you can escape to the terrace with a glass of new world wine.
