Habita MTY, Monterrey
Design hotel group Habita has arrived in Mexico’s industrial hub of Monterrey with a flourish of monochrome. Habita MTY is the group’s seventh destination and its most dramatic to date.
Designed by Monterrey-based architect Agustín Landa and Paris-based designer Joseph Dirand, the curvilinear tower rises up oasis-like from the desert. Its compact rooms, including two loft suites, have black walls, white-washed wood floors and a central futon-like bed clothed in a crisp, white duvet and set off by a black wood base. And there are touches of humour, such as the ‘So Vain’ logo on the full-length mirror.
Rooms surround a courtyard with an array of sophisticated shopping options, including a spa, a Ferrari dealership and a business centre. The rooftop bar is flanked by dual infinity pools and offers 360-degree views of the mountains. As with all Habita hotels, the menu for the restaurant has been created by the young Mexican executive chef Enrique Olvera.
