The port of Vancouver still has lots of spirit. But despite the drinking habits of the city's dockers it lacked, until recently, custom spirits. Enter the Odd Society tasting lounge and distillery, the brainchild of Edinburgh-trained distiller Gordon Glanz, who has brought old-world know-how back to his hometown. Housed in a converted motorcycle garage, the distillery is separated from the tasting room by a floor-to-ceiling glass wall. The décor has a retro feel, with low lighting and local artist Shwa Keirstead's mural of the 350-litre copper pot stills. We recommend the East Van vodka and Wallflower gin, infused with West Coast botanicals.
