For men, shopping can often mean buying what they need as quickly as possible. However, brothers Chris and Nick Schaerf may be changing that with the 'slow retail' concept at their luxurious shoe salon Double Monk, in Melbourne's Fitzroy. Designed by local firm MRTN Architects, the store features a bar at the rear, where customers can kick back on leather club chairs for a restorative dram while trying on the selection of handmade English shoes. 'We have a love of single-malt whiskies,' says Chris. 'What we've got is constantly changing and fairly varied.' That means Suntory Yamakazi from Japan or Sullivans Cove single-cask whisky from Tasmania - always be served neat.
