Mao Live

Industrial-cool music venue liked for its warehouse space and vintage furniture. The floor tapers down towards the stage, so punk rockers and crowd-haters alike are always spoilt for choice between the pit and a high view.

Xiao Xin’s Café

Located in one of the capital’s oldest hutong areas and somewhat of a confectionary legend, this boho café boasts the best cheesecake in Beijing, amongst other such cakes and pastries, all of which Xiao Xin himself hand makes.

Yugong Yishan

Grungy live music venue that used to be located in a car park opposite the Worker’s stadium. Sadly it had to be demolished to make way for the Beijing Olympics, but the new upscale venue has kept its unpretentious charm and loyal clientele with its high quality live acts.
