Cinema Paradiso — Amsterdam, Netherlands
Fashionable restaurants come and go, but few places manage to still top the charts ten years after they first opened for business. One such place is Amsterdam's Cinema Paradiso. Opened in 2002, this Italian success story has consistently ranked high among the hangouts of the local in-crowd. But the former movie theatre was in need of a refresh, so interior designer Thijs Murré, the man behind other Amsterdam hotspots like Jimmy Woo and Lion Noir, was called in to do the honours. He has balanced an abundance of wood - ensuring a warm and inviting space - with crisp white tiles keep and stainless steel give it a modern feel. Cinema Paradiso continues to serve up good Italian fare at surprisingly reasonable prices and, when it comes to cocktails, regulars rave about the restaurant's Sgroppino - arguably the best in town.
