For husband-and-wife team Halla Bára Gestsdóttir and Gunnar Sverrison, their lifestyle website, Home and Delicious was initially launched as a means to merge their shared passions for interiors and photography. Three years later, their project has unexpectedly flourished, resulting in the opening of a trio of boutique apartments in central Reykjavik. ‘We never imagined the dream would come true of doing something this big,’ says Gestsdóttir. Occupying a century old house, the apartments radiate the character of the original building, while taking on interior designer Gestsdóttir’s tasteful aesthetic by way of dark hues and furnishings acquired on exploratory trips to London’s markets. Standout fittings such as Iris Ceramica bathroom tiles and George Nelson bubble lamps from Modernica create focal points in each room, but as with any close collaboration, details such as framed photographs taken by Sverrisson create a touch of real intimacy.
