With plenty of smart Parisian hotels vying for the patronage of visitors, it can be a challenge to stand out amongst the crowd. To wit, the Hôtel du Ministère has unveiled the striking results of a new extension, adding 18 rooms to its original 24, courtesy of interior architect and designer François Champsaur. Located just minutes away from Paris hotspots Rue du Faubourg Saint Honoré and the Champs-Elysées, the hotel harks to the Eiffel Tower’s industrial aesthetic, with sweeping steel-framed glass windows offering views of the city.

Each room centres on a Mondrian-esque scheme based on one of the three primary hues, a nod to the artist and fashion studios that were formerly housed in the building. Graphic curtains, painterly carpets, mid-century Italian furnishings by the likes of Cassina and Zanotta, warm beech wood and oak complete the rooms’ neo-modernist feel.

Linking the original hotel with the addition, the new breakfast room has received a similarly graphic boost, with bold pops of colour punctuating the restaurant. Champaur and the hotel’s owner enlisted a crop of renowned Paris galleries to pad out the hotel’s existing art collection, adding works by David Lynch, Sebastien KJito, KRM, Carmen Perrin and Stephanie Guglielmetti.
