A new logo for the 2012 London Olympic games has been released causing mixed reactions around the design world. The work is the result of a rumoured £400,000 commission for brand consultants Wolff Olins, whose previous clients include Sony Ericsson and Unilever, with the aim of targeting a younger audience.

“London 2012 will be everyone’s games,” said Chairman Sebastien Coe at the unveiling, “This is the vision at the very heart of our brand… it is an invitation to take part and be involved.” The design brief was for a logo that encompassed Coe’s four key ‘brand pillars’ of access, participation, stimulation and inspiration.
