Paris Fashion Week: menswear
Kilgour
Kilgour, of London's Savile Row, chose Paris for their catwalk debut. The collection was minimal in its purity, creative director Carlo Brandelli told Wallpaper* that he 'tried to take away anything extraneous', which included buttons banished from view and whole sections of collars.
With the exception of one beige suede blazer, the whole show was in dark navy and white. Polka dots, already a Kilgour code, in micro scale, were the only source of décor, so the focus could remain solely on construction, like the lightweight white mohair that was so translucent that all the facings and interior build were visible.
Otherwise the attention was on the collar or lack of it. Lapels appeared and disappeared into facings that came out from inside. Fronts had an exaggerated opening, exposing an equally severe waistcoat that ensured that trouser waistbands did not interfere with the purity of the line.
The brand also took the opportunity to unveil their collaboration with Aston Martin: the V8 Vantage special edition, kitted in and out, Kilgour style with frosty white satin paint and super dark navy Alcantara interior, featuring micro polka dots, naturally.
