Milan Fashion Week: menswear
Haute
Haute, the clothing line from Cristina Lombardi and architect-designer Vincenzo di Cotiis, is one of those under-the-radar brands that is harder to come by than most labels on the Milan calendar, but to us that adds to its allure, in a Secret Elite kind of way.
The pieces, easy to wear, anonymous and very, very cool are exactly what you would want to stumble across when shopping, and the attention to detail will seduce you. As many of the pieces are constructed from the existing (i.e. vintage/second hand), dismantled and reassembled, and combined with the new, they are limited and therefore have an exclusivity that global brands simply cannot offer.
Washing and over-dying (of found fabrics from the 1920s to the 1970s) give texture that is hard to categorise, and give depth to the colours like dusty grey and khaki.
Standouts were the trench coats, an Haute signature, the knits with ribbon and tape detailing and the blousons in taffeta and kangaroo leather.
