Prepare to be deluged by compact SUVs and crossover vehicles. Land Rover, traditionally leaders in this field, believe they can do things differently. Rather than compromise their decades-old approach to car-making - robust, straight-forward, capable and go-anywhere - they’ve decided to up the ante and create a low-impact off-roader, a small scale machine that uses a hybrid drivetrain and a more compact, carefully sculpted exterior to minimise the sense of scale. The result is the LRX, perhaps the company’s most significant concept for years. With new ownership imminent, Land Rover are staking their future on such a car being a hit.
