Milan Menswear Autumn/Winter 2008
Marni
Marni man, a label still in its infancy, has been a Wallpaper* favourite since making its runway debut a few seasons back. As such, Marni was one of the nominees for Best Fashion Collection in this years Wallpaper* Design Awards.
Marnis look is directional and wearable at the same time, with pieces that are destined for the shop floor as well as the catwalk. Pants, often in mohair, were cut looser but slim at the calf and cropped to expose some great looking ankle boots.
Playing with proportion, Consuelo Castiglioni shortened the sleeves of jackets and knits, exposing more shirt cuff. There were also plenty of technical fabrics, with special attention given to finish through technical coatings and some strong Marni signature prints based on the movement of light and shade. Most wanted were the boots with counter contrast.
