Milan Menswear Autumn/Winter 2008
Dolce & Gabbana
Sicilian farmers may have been the inspiration behind the Dolce & Gabbana show, but the finished product was a long way from the fields of Madonie. Rubber soled boots came in worn alligator and ostrich, perhaps a little luxe for tending your flock of mountain sheep. However, it was beneath the giant shearling coats and oversized chunky knits that the best pieces were to be found, and an area this brand excels in; masterful tailoring.
Championing the three-piece suit, Dolce & Gabbanas best appeared in aged velvet giving the evening fabric a tougher, more day-durable look. However, the piece that had the entire Wallpaper* team in a tiz was the slim coat in thermo-bonded raw-cut tweed.
