Berlin is now one of the great creative capitals, brimming with exhibitions, performances and parties. The standard and variety of eateries, shops and hotels has dramatically improved in recent years. The city is full of openness and contrasts; it is edgy but safe. A solid, tolerant, municipal infrastructure means that no matter how wild and late your partying, there’s always a custard-coloured taxi on hand to whisk you back to your hotel.
