Givenchy
You would be hard pressed to find any reference to the heritage of Givenchy or the work of founder Hubert de Givenchy, who retired from his house in 1995, at tonights show. Instead designer Riccardo Tisci has been trying to carve out his own vision for the brand since taking over artistic direction two years ago.
For that he has his fans (and detractors), but the best thing when looking at the collection is to judge it on its own merit and try not to think of the past or for that matter, the brand.
He worked placements of giant polka dots over the torso through to the sleeve and developed the circular theme into giant metal grommets. In multiple sizes these covered jackets, creating a novel take on the transparent theme of the season as well as being a transition from his successful giant pyramid studding from Winter.
