What’s brewing: three coffee trends to perk up your day
First there were cappuccini, then flat whites and cold brews. But caffeine junkies are always looking for new ways to get their fix. Here are the latest big hitters.
Nitro coffee
Stored in a keg and served from a tap, nitro coffee is cold-brew coffee infused with tiny nitrogen bubbles that lend it a smooth texture, thick foamy top and strong flavour.
Coffee soda
A shot of espresso mixed with soda and an optional fruit or herb flavour, variations of fermented, carbonated coffee have been popping up across the US for a few years.
Cascara
Also known as coffee cherry tea, cascara is made by drying and then steeping the typically discarded husks of coffee cherries in hot water.
