The hip Shoreditch veterans are serving up a number of refreshing cocktails, concocted by Ace Hotel London's bar manager Nathan Merriman using the in-house coffee shop Bulldog Edition's best beans and The Pressery’s all-natural milks.
The idea was to take the 'traditional iced coffee' and improve it in every way, by using the best ingredients. The Pressery's hand-churned milks form the base – either the natural variant or the drinks flavoured with turmeric or cacao – while the Bulldog Edition's perfectly brewed espresso adds a rush of caffeine. Carefully selected spirits finish off the mix, with uplifting effect.
'Far From the Tree' combines classic almond milk with Laird's Apple Brandy, while 'Allurement' fuses a cacao almond milk with Diplomático Reserva Exclusiva rum. But perhaps best of all is 'British Press Club': 'It is light, summery and boozy,' explains Merriman. ‘Alongside the blood orange and toffee notes of the espresso, the cayenne and raw honey flavours in the The Pressery's turmeric almond milk work really well with the botanical Kamm & Sons.’
For those who like a nibble with their tipple, they are also dishing up equally delicious (but not nearly as virtuous) almond donuts. Don’t mind if we do.
'British Press Club' recipe (serves one)
75ml The Pressery turmeric almond milk
1 shot of espresso
10ml Sugar syrup
20ml Kamm & Sons British Aperitif
Shake all the ingredients and strain over fresh ice. Garnish with a little oregano.
