Santalum Cedrus candle by Saturdays and Baxter of California

After pooling together their efforts on a pair of collaborative soaps last year, Manhattan's surf mecca Saturdays has joined forces once again with men's grooming staple Baxter of California to create one good-looking soy candle. Comprising cedar, sandalwood, amber and vetiver, the fragrance perfectly evokes a post-surf walk through the woods that would suit those who aren't lucky enough to get the real thing.

IRO Hair salon,
by Reiichi Ikeda, Osaka

As far as hair salons go, the Japanese specimens are pretty hard to beat. IRO is one such example, located in the Nishi-ku district of Osaka. Designed by architect Reiichi Ikeda and graphic designer Yuma Arada, the space - which expertly mixes wood, brick and concrete in its interior - is divided according to function; wooden box-like screens and panels separate and hide cutting areas from view. Completed by a striking moiré effect front window and mismatched minimal furniture, IRO is a minimalist dream, with organic haircare from John Masters Organics and homegrown brand Yuliluka to boot.

Nose boutique, Paris

As someone who grew up surrounded by the fashion and fragrance (his great-grandmother is couturier Nina Ricci, and he is grandson of perfumer Robert Ricci), Romano Ricci's olfactory inclinations are instinctive. Despite running his own subversive fragrance label Juliette Has a Gun, Ricci has found the time to open a concept in the heart of Paris. Aptly called Nose, the shop carries 45 niche beauty brands including Cire Trudon, REN and Francis Kurdjian, and is armed with perfume specialists to assist in every choice. Together with his partners Nicolas Cloutier and Mark Buxton (who similarly boast luxury fashion and fragrance backgrounds) Ricci has also developed a sophisticated app to help each customer identifying their kindred scent based on a specifically tailored 'olfactive diagnosis'.

Paperself London Lashes

With all attention on London this month, we thought it only right to have a rifle through the piles of new Anglo-related paraphernalia that have emerged. Paperself's paper eyelashes caught our eye for the way they make a nod towards the Chinese tradition of delicate paper cutting while paying tribute to the British capital. Some of the city's most icon landmarks, from the Gherkin to the London Eye, have been transformed into miniature wearable works of art.
