HTC Readers' Choice Award: the winner
Interiors
You voted in your droves, and the time has finally come for us announce the winner of the HTC Readers' Choice Award.
Sponsored by the smart-phone pioneers, HTC, the award's aim was to uncover the most beautifully functional piece of design from a five-strong shortlist edited down by the Wallpaper* team.
The results were a mixed bunch, each embodying HTC's slogan of 'quietly brilliant' in a quietly different way . From elegant black, bottle-shaped street furniture by Ewo & Norway Says to a bladeless fan by Dyson; ingeniously simple ‘Bullfrog’ bike lights by Knog to Simon Earith of YES Studio's exquisitely designed book for John Stezaker's ethereal photo-narrative.
There can of course be just one winner though and the victor was Roca's W+W loo and basin. Following suit from HTC’s own ‘quietly brilliant’ maxim, the W+W is not just pleasingly curved but space-saving and eco-friendly to boot. Water from the wash basin is stored for recycling as flush water, cutting water usage by 25% compared to a standard loo.
