The first Citizen M hotel at Schiphol Airport – a 300m walk to the terminal – demonstrates the group’s stacked shipping-container model. We think it’s more ‘affordable’ than ‘budget’. The design has a real sense of style. The 14 sq m rooms, created by Dutch design firm Concrete, are the height of functional space design. They come with super-king-size beds and offer the perfect lounge area from which to watch television on the flat LCD screen, enjoy free movies, work on your laptop or listen to a selection of music channels.
