Burberry, Spring/Summer '09 (scroll down to read the review)
Burberry
Like his spring summer menswear collection Christopher Bailey swapped decoration for colour (neutrals like pewter, stone and mushroom mixed with sage, purple, lavender and citrine) and texture in the form of creases and crumples.
Unstructured outerwear looked loved and worn-in, with a degrade effect adding a further dimension. Baileys Garden Girls came out in tear dresses and patchwork raffia hats and plenty of chunky necklaces made of tiles of alligator skin. Outerwear was of course centre stage, with capes, coats and trenches that went from day (best in washed cotton) to night in golden floral brocade or metallic silk lamé.
