Jiro Dreams of Sushi, Tokyo, Japan
For those who question whether sushi-making can truly be classified as art, David Gelb’s elegant, new documentary ‘Jiro Dreams of Sushi’ should settle the matter. The film tells the story of Jiro Ono, widely considered to be the best sushi chef in the world. Gelb gives fascinating insight into Ono’s painstaking process and uncommon personal drive – which impacts on his relationship with his son and heir, Yoshikazu. Now 85, Ono owns Sukiyabashi Jiro, a ten-seat restaurant inauspiciously located in a Tokyo subway station, yet awarded three stars in the prestigious Michelin Guide. Understandably, the restaurant is booked up far in advance. Watch a clip of this inspiring film here to help pass the many months until your seat is available
