An institution not best known for doing things by halves, pioneering Mayfair eatery Sketch has this month announced the launch of a winter pop-up café, taking shape in Burlington Gardens for two months from early December onwards. Running in conjunction with the Royal Academy’s upcoming exhibition, ‘GSK Contemporary, Earth, Art of a Changing World’, the café will provide a high-style retreat for the duration of the show – offering a wide selection of mouthwatering Francophilic treats from Sketch’s pioneering chef Pierre Gagnaire. From Viennoisiris and Granola at breakfast through to tartlets, pates and lunettes at afternoon tea - the café will also provide an al fresco oyster bar and creperie in a bid to keep all palettes satisfied. Adopting GSK’s eco-theme as its own, all furniture for the café will be made from 100% recycled cardboard, whilst the limited edition POP Earth champagne comes produced from ecologically sourced grapes in an entirely recycled bottle. Who said sustainability wasn’t sexy?
