Geoffrey Diner Gallery, Washington

Geoffrey Diner is as much famed for the eclectic nature of its collection as for the extensive, specialist nature of the designers and periods it favours. Established in 1975, and hence something of a pioneer in the design art world, the gallery has earned a solid reputation as a world authority on decorative arts of the pre-World War Two period.

Since then and notably in the last decade, Diner has spread his net somewhat, incorporating a mixture of post-war and contemporary designs from the likes of Paul Kjaerholm, Maurice Calka, George Nakashima and Marc Newson. With each addition, craft and innovation are the principles that the gallery seeks to promote.

At this year's Design Miami, Geoffrey Diner will present a range of post-war and contemporary designs made from metal, stone and glass, alongside the debut exhibition in America of several Czech glass artists.
