Galerie de Casson, Paris
Guillaume de Casson exhibits rare, limited editions or one off furniture and art works by a small clutch of designers from the Sixties and Seventies. Of late the gallery has been principally concerning itself with the work of two bastions of the Sixties, Pierre Paulin and Michel Boyer.
And its the products of these two men that Galerie de Casson will exhibit at Design Miami in a bid to highlight the innovative qualities and tell the story of both designers work through their very different styles.
Paulins designs have achieved iconic status through the playful mastery of shape and form. Designs such as the Ribbon chair and Tongue chair heralded a new era of design, ushering in a pop mentality where creativity of form was pushed to its limits. Boyers work is in stark contrast to that of Paulin, where pure lines and elegance of form show how the legacy of post-war modernism developed hroughout the Sixties and Seventies.
