Antik, New York
Founded in 1995 by Kim Hostler and Juliet Burrows, the New York-based gallery specialises in work from artists operating at the forefront of the modernist movement. Antik focuses mainly on Scandanavian and American design, with their main emphasis being on studio ceramics, Swedish Functionalism, the Danish cabinetmaker Guild and American Studio Craft.
Hostler and Burrows main curatorial focal point is the original intention and integrity of the artists work they exhibit. Craftsmanship and form are of paramount importance in the pieces they show, which is evident in their carefully edited presentations.
Antik will be featuring monumental sculptures by Ralph Dorazio, coupled with a video installation of the dances for which they were originally created. Other selected works will illustrate Antiks Scandanavian/American sensibilities through the likes of Berndt Friberg, Finn Juhl and Axel Salto.
