Lanvin
‘Boys growing up too fast’ was how designer Lucas Ossendrijver described the Lanvin show. Jackets were too short, shoulders square and pants finished at the ankle as if the models had simply grown out of them. Unlike previous collections, no fabrics were washed this season (every thing from wool to satin was laundered at Lanvin in the past). Instead, fabrics were crisp and clean, and in the large part specially developed.
The new materials included wool and silk bonded over a light mousse - a dry shiny fabric with structured polyester on the outside and cotton on the inside. Lanvin also toyed with astrakhan, cut into strips and sewn to jumpers to produce a corduroy effect. These double-faced fabrics meant that garments did not require linings. The whole look was effortlessly low key, elegant, with a deliberate quirkiness and all very Lanvin.
