Dries Van Noten, Spring/Summer '09 (scroll down to read the review)
Dries Van Noten
Dries Van Noten, loved for his painterly romantic ways with print and layering, made a U-turn on that floridness for a mood more austere and pared down. His palette was monochromatic, with glazed linen masculine trouser suits and white shirts, some decorated with bronze and gold panels on the chest or pocket.
It seemed just the right note of glamour for now. There were graph check duster coats and a chequerboard print in sombre golds and blues in easy off the shoulder tunic dresses with wrap-and-twist strap designs. Hand sequined pieces with a honeycomb pattern were standouts of this lyrical collection.
