Vivienne Westwood, Spring/Summer '09 (scroll down to read the review)
Vivienne Westwood
All hail Dame Viv. From the intricate tucks and ties to the straps and asymmetrical fabric slashes that expose flesh for fantasy and so much more. Vivienne Westwood gives great sex appeal at the best of times. Yet she also prompts something of a political consciousness each season.
Take for instance the "We need an estimated $30 billion per year to save the rain forest" slogan which made its presence felt upon this season's slogan t-shirt.
Bustled dresses and far flung cape detailing aside, if a handful of easily adaptable key pieces for spring fail at enabling even the most conservative fashionista a chance for instant street cred, then the titan-esque textile clashing is sure to do the job. Oh, and leopard print is the new black.
