Lanvin Homme, under the artistic direction of Alber Elbaz with Lucas Ossendrijver as designer, is now one of Paris’s most eagerly anticipated shows, and a trip to the Lanvin store in Rue du Fauborg Saint Honoré is now an obligatory stop for Wallpaper* in Paris. Our only grumble are the painfully high prices (that is what you pay for scarcity) but a major part of its appeal is that it is not mass distributed.
Ossendrijver continued with the fragility seen in previous seasons and the use of more feminine fabrics like satin, which come laundered and crumpled, making them easier for a guy to wear. He puts sportswear in the mix with lightweight parkas in windowpane-checked nylon, marled jogging pants and jackets in jockey stripes. Coats felt like robes and shirts and pants had the pyjama feel also seen at Miu Miu, YSL and Prada.
Raw cut cloth complete with threads is an integral part of the women’s offer, for men there were bibbed shirts cut and left unfinished, as well as ties. The latter included new bowties, rounded like petals. The bow has had a fair amount of exposure this week on and off the runway, and Elbaz is rarely seen without his.
