Comme des Garcons
Good things come in threes, at least that is what Rei Kawakubo might be thinking. For her Comme des Garcons Homme Plus show, held in the portico of the Lycée Jacques Decour, she had her models don three of everything. Jackets were layered one on top of the other, each one more shrunken than the last with cuffs of the latter ending up at the elbow. It was hard to tell if they were one piece with faux fronts and cuffs or if they were actually three separate pieces. She did the same with trench coats, pea coats, waistcoats and shirts. It all looked like the models had outgrown their clothes (in an Oliver Twist way) with pants that were too short and felted hats that were split in two.
Washed and crumpled fabrics, Madras checks, deconstruction, and exposed cupro linings were all familiar territory from the designer and colour was typical Comme: off tones combined turquoise, purple and blue, or ginger, navy and black, also mixed for Koonsian-ike layered prints.
