Jean Paul Gaultier’s latest collection includes influences as varied as Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, Rainer Werner Fassbinder’s Querelle, Naval uniforms and glam rock. Nautical braided stripes went on the cuffs of signature pinstripe blazers, coats and down the legs of glittered denim jeans. Bags had rope handles for that just off the jetty look and the Breton striped teeshirt, a signature piece often sported by the designer himself was reinterpreted in sheer and opaque striped blue viscose. Knitted waistcoats and v-neck sweaters included their own self-knotted tie, a marvel of construction.
