Yohji Yamamoto, Spring Summer '08
Yohji Yamamoto
Yamamoto worked familiar themes: oversized jackets, frock coats and tailcoats have been mainstays in his collection since the 80s. Cut in washed cotton, wool or viscose they were utilitarian and mixed with workwear like cargo pants and overalls. They came a plenty in black, as well as chalky white and stone, and what really stood out were the light blue. Detailing was in a multitude of button down pockets all over jackets and pants. Trousers were roomy at the top and taped at the leg with lacing and zips at the ankle.
