Westwood employed the creative hands of school children from Nottingham to paint fabric with wildly expressive faces and daubs to her brief of 'Chaos Point'. 'Imagine soldiers who had been fighting people who lived in a land that had a lot of jungle, for example Vietnam. How scary it would be when behind every tree may hide someone waiting to kill you…' read Westwood's directives. The little hands responded to the fear as her parade of freedom fighters stalked the catwalk in army hats and painterly explosions on sac skirts, contorted tailoring, and giant sheepskin jackets. Evening wear came with the same violence with slashed gold silk taffeta cocktail dresses, and fine crystal strewn tunic dresses over painted bodysuits.
