Ever wonder what would happen if fashion died? Watanabe seemed to be musing on that point with his collection of grey and black jersey pieces with tops cut to look like deflated balloons on the body topping tube skirts and trousers where the crotch had slipped to mid-calf. To emphasise the ghostly, macabre silhouettes, faces were wrapped and tied with black cloth creating sculptural shapes. Tailored jackets came with slit cape sleeves, and capes with tailored sleeves, while soft cashmere houndstooth wools were cut into wibbly wobbly jackets with undulations down the torso, all to elegant effect. Things came back to life or into flower with his draped evening dresses featuring pleated panels of flower bloom silk.
