Proenza Schouler, Spring/Summer '09 (scroll down to read the review)
Proenza Schouler
The duo was in a hardcore mood for spring summer with a collection fused with German Bauhaus meets Montana overtones with lashings of bondage. The focus here was all on the cut with arching shoulderlines on ivory white jackets, the exposed seams fastened with poppers. Cellophane silk, the colour of ash, was fashioned into shirts that tucked under streamlined all-in-ones with fetish lacing at the back.
Their trademark panelling took on the shape of the body, with striped jersey pencil skirts with fitted bodice-like tops in black, purple or lime green, one version with S&M bondage style straps.
Evening saw a line up of sequins in balloon trousered all-in-ones in grey and black graphic swirls. The heels were challenging with riveted metal as if salvaged from the scrap yard.
