Calvin Klein, Spring/Summer '09 (scroll down to read the review)
Calvin Klein
In the year of Calvin Kleins 40th anniversary, which the house celebrated with a delightful party on Sunday at New Yorks new inspired public park, the High Line, creative head Francisco Costa sent out an equally sublime collection that pushed his inventiveness to the full.
Fashioned in white silk were delicate pieces with 3D pleat and box reliefs created as if out of pieces of a paper pattern. Deliberate creases cleverly formed structural effects on sheath dresses and arching shoulderline jackets.
The wizardry continued with origami box effects on nude silk jerseys. Silver entered the clean colour palette in chain mail like knits and shimmering see-through organza that had the look of plastic to create a sheer coat and dress. Modern, playful and pure - that's a good hat trick in fashion.
