Rodarte, Spring/Summer ’08 (scroll down to read the review)
Rodarte
The two sisters from Pasadena are making their mark on fashion with a genre of dresses that leftfield punky imaginations dream of. Their concoctions, made from an intricate assemblage of chiffon, hand-embroidered tulle, marbelised silk and delicate organza, are made on the body with different fabrics playing hide and seek over breasts and hips. The effect is often quite beautiful.

Standouts include loose macramé knit trapeze dresses in shades of turquoise mohair and metallic thread, cloudlike organza skirts with semi-tailored jackets fitted to billow at the hips, and inky blue evening dresses with gradated plisse silk chiffon draped over a sheath of lace and Swarovski crystal-embroidered tulle.
