Proenza Schouler
Duo Jack and Lazaro of Proenza Schouler, showing at the Uptown Armoury, wooed guests with soporific classical music and a line-up, which played with cut, swag folds and deconstruction: a conceit which seems to go hand in hand with possible recession. Bottle green, heavy silk dresses featured tiered folds, swooping from the chest round to the shoulder blade; city coats in textured tweed featured slices of taped satin as if a panel had been swept away to reveal the innards around the rib cage, while wide pants in slippery black sequins fastened Thai-style across from the centre. The silhouette had lots of swagger and textures were rich. Standouts included cocktail dresses with bodies in lace, sequins hems and organdy balloon sleeves that wouldnt go amiss in a 'Rosemarys Baby' remake.
