Giorgio Armani
Milan is all about the neck. Almost banished is the traditional tie, modernised at Prada and replaced with long silk scarves at Gucci. At Armani, new high-buttoned shirts, in soft cloth, like a turtleneck that reach almost under the chin, do away with the need for a tie (and a scarf for that matter).
Armani also proposes a shawl collared waistcoat (three-piece suits are absolutely the way forward) cut high so it sits just above the lapel of the jacket, with a high button to keep it closed. The waistcoat, jacket and pant cut from the same cloth gives a reduced cleaner look.
This being Giorgio Armani means special attention has been taken with the shoulders: jackets come with a pronounced roll giving a formal tailored look he calls 'regal'.
