Fendi, Autumn/Winter '08 (scroll down to read the review)
Fendi
Another strong season from Fendi. Why so good? The tightly controlled palette of deep tan, brown, grey and blue-black, the almost minimal reduction of detail, the complete absence of anything unnecessary or uncool and some great pieces like low-crotched pants and high-breaking blazers.
It was also probably the most decadent collection we saw in Milan with sueded nabuk alligator, double-faced cashmere, glove-like nappa (leather pants never looked so convincing) as well as sable and mink. The fact that the cut was so right, and that everything was so measured and spare, let the materials in all their glorious richness speak for themselves.
