Marni, Spring/Summer ’08 (scroll down to read the review)
Marni
Marni, marching towards the future, left behind the vintage references with a strong show of bold shapes. Concentrating mainly on the dress, the focus seemed firmly on novel fabrications and finishes like transparent latex, techno-gabardine, cupro silk, patent leather and canvas.

Shapes were either straight cut or softer and looser, with generous darts, pleats or folds, creating the silhouettes and also producing interesting design detailing. Often these details were unexpectedly off centre, or seemingly random placed, like at Bottega Veneta and Pringle, but here done the Marni way.

There were of course plenty of prints, often abstract, some bold colour blocking and cast resin was applied like giant embroidery in place of jewellery.
