Max Mara
Serious suiting has been strangely absent from Milan's catwalks (even if always present in its showrooms). Some of the best suits showed up at the Max Mara show, cut in black, grey and pastel-coloured alpaca, cashmere and wool. Wearable yet never dull, the emphasis was on the shoulder with an exaggerated roll to the head of the sleeve giving a welcome edge and working well with the strong architectural feel elsewhere in Milan.
