Of late, Marni have been at the forefront of fabric development and this season was no exception. Brushed silk and wool have new surface texture, two different materials bonded together have both a novel handle and look and compacted wools like tweed have a solid but soft texture. Marni combined these elements with off-colours like raspberry, dirty pink, acid yellow, sand, camel and emerald green, plenty of alpaca, fox and astrakhan and numerous graphic prints. Add into the mix asymmetry in the form of ruffles, ruches and Peter Pan collars, and plenty of complex cutting with a special focus on the shoulder and sleeve head, and the resulting layering of texture, colour, volume, length and shape is eclectic and stands out from the rest of the purity in Milan.
